Global Student Square project manager Jordan Tichenor visited Oakland International High School on Feb. 10 to kick off the GSS Africa News Challenge. OIHS, a school in Oakland Unified School District which serves recent immigrants to the United States, has an extraordinarily diverse student body. The majority of its students are English language learners. Tichenor asked the students what they would like to learn about Africa, marking the beginning of the GSS Africa News Challenge.
This month, we are challenging students across the country to consider what they want to know about Africa and share it with the world. If you’d like to add to the conversation, please join our Africa News Challenge. Contribute by sending us a tweet with #GSSAfrica, a photo, a video or an audio file through social media and email, and earn a chance to win one of four $100 Amazon gift cards.
